Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia expressed his warm welcome to all local and international participants, including businessmen, investors, experts, and scholars who attended the 2017 Cambodia International Business Summit, held on 15 February 2017.

The outcome of the event will be a key input for the World Economic Forum on ASEAN to be hosted by Cambodia in May this year, Samdech Techo Hun Sen underlined.

This 2017 Cambodia International Business Summit and the upcoming World Economic Forum on ASEAN will become real milestones for Cambodia’s economic development, he added.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also highlighted the forecast of Cambodia’s GDP growth of around 7% this year. Cambodia has achieved yearly economic growth of 7.7% on average over the past two decades. With this, Cambodia has the ambitious to become an upper middle-income country by 2030.

Mr. Gerald Lawless, the Chairman of the Word Travel & Tourism Council underlined the opportunities in the Cambodian tourism industry, which already contributes a large share to the Kingdom’s annual GDP growth. Open sky policies and visa fees, among others, attract more tourists to Cambodia and warned of overusing the country’s long-term tourism assets such as Angkor Wat temple and other heritage sites.
